First paying customer! About a month ago, I posted here about a small Android app I was building after getting tired of telling my sons to look up from their phones while walking. [https://www.reddit.com/r/SideProject/comments/1vr2hrv/i\_got\_tired\_of\_telling\_my\_sons\_to\_look\_up\_from/](https://www.reddit.com/r/SideProject/comments/1vr2hrv/i_got_tired_of_telling_my_sons_to_look_up_from/) At the time, it was still very much a side project and I honestly had no idea whether anyone outside my own family would care about it. A few days ago, something small but pretty meaningful happened: Someone bought the first monthly subscription. It was only about €1.80 in revenue, so obviously this is not some huge startup success story 😄 But seeing the first real customer in the dashboard felt completely different from downloads, page views or people saying “cool idea”. Someone I don’t know found the app, understood what it does, and decided it was worth paying for. That was a surprisingly good feeling. The idea is still the same: WalkBlock is an Android app that blocks selected distracting apps while the phone detects movement, so kids are encouraged to look up from the screen while walking instead of staring at TikTok, YouTube or games. There is still a very long way to go. I’m figuring out distribution, SEO, what parents actually care about, and how to explain the product without making it sound like just another parental-control app. But the first paying customer made the project suddenly feel a little more real. For anyone building a side project and staring at a dashboard full of zeros: the first number above zero really does hit differently. Now I guess the next goal is customer #2. A Chrome extension that tracks small productivity progress

Small progress on my Chrome extension: 38 installs 4 weekly users Weekly users are up 103% from the previous period. Still a tiny number, but seeing people come back and use something I built is encouraging. Keeping at it and learning how distribution works.

A Chrome extension that tracks installs and weekly users

39 installs for my Chrome extension. Still small, but seeing weekly users grow is encouraging. Building the product is only half the job. Getting people to discover it — and keep using it — is the harder part. One small step at a time.

40 installs for my Chrome extension 🎉 The numbers are still small, but I'm starting to see a little more movement: • 40 installs (+25.93%) • 12 page views (+68.42%) • 4 weekly users (+64.71%) Still learning that building the product is only half the job.

An app that scales with organic content posting

Day 27 of scaling my app to $10k/month. 16 active subs. $551.40 revenue in the last 28 days. No big spike today. That's organic: someone may see a slideshow now and search for the app later or never. I can't predict the next sale. I can keep making useful content and posting.
