I know everyone on here posts about hitting $10k MRR overnight, but I just hit 9 total downloads on my new Mac app and I’m honestly hyped! 🎉 Question for the builders who have been doing this a while: is 9 downloads a good sign for a brand new launch, or am I moving too slow? Thoughts? 🤔 #buildinpublic

Heyyy I'm Marco 👋 28 yo german solo dev, shipping mobile apps 🇩🇪 I've built and launched 6 iOS apps. Mostly figuring out the hard parts myself: ads, attribution, paywalls, onboarding, distribution. Right now I'm scaling to $10k MRR. One app at €40k all time revenue - got there making just about every mistake possible. Follow along so you don't have to make them too. I mostly post about paid ads, paywalls, distribution and building apps in public. Real numbers, including the rough stretches. Like the last few weeks, where things really haven't been going well.

Day 48/144 of building to $5k MRR MRR: $490 (+$84) Revenue (last 28 days): $814 (+$172) Active subscriptions: 64 (+10) Finally seeing some momentum again. I was stuck between $360–385 MRR for almost 20 days because of churn and not enough new users. It honestly killed my motivation, and I stopped posting updates here for a while. Things have finally started moving: • First TikTok crossed 100k views. • Trial starts have picked up. • Revenue crossed $800 over the last 28 days. • MRR is finally within touching distance of $500. Still a lot of work to do, but this is the first time in weeks that it feels like the graph is moving in the right direction. 96 days left. 🚀

It took me 20 days to go from $380 → $400 MRR. Then it took just 5 days to go from $400 → $500 MRR. That first $400 felt impossible because churn kept canceling out new subscribers. After selling my first app, it took me 8 long months to get here: $200+ MRR on mobile $100+ MRR on web That looked impossible with the first version of the product. Here's everything I did to make it work: - SEO for the website - Built a mobile version of the website that works just like the app - Did keyword research multiple times - Updated the app listing every month and tracked rankings on ASOMobile All of this is organic. I've spent maybe 15 days on ads in total, but that traffic never converts. It was only to boost downloads and get the 1K+ badge on Google Play. Now I'm running ads again to reach the 5K+ badge. Next up: Reddit and TikTok marketing. If you're wondering whether organic works, it does. It's just slow. Bonus: I also made $115 from a Arcstudio which is a macOS/iPad only app.

Caste

@castedev

You’re maturing as a solo founder when you stop creating more SaaS and focus on only one. I’m full of ideas and i built all of them, yet everything ends in failure. But with this one… something is different. I thought was dead, but rarely a notification popped: Stripe - new customer. 1, 2, 3… added general features (not for a niche) and creating more SEO pages then forgot about it again. 4, 5, 6, 7… What’s happening? More SEO pages, update the layout. 8, 9, 10…20 OK, this product is working. Full layout redesign, more mature, targeted at one niche only. 40 subscribers Now I’m working only on this SaaS, parking my ideas for the future. Once you go deep into a project, it’s hard to focus on different things. If you start from zero, anonymously, no audience, you have to LEARN to do all the work first. Scaling a product doesn’t mean doing one thing. It means: - marketing - customer care - updates - ideas - finding competitors’ flaws - getting ideas - and more All of this drains your time, and I don’t have time to build other things. but i have time to scale this one !
